Flamenco Latino Children's Classes

For 6 years, Flamenco Latino has partnered throughout the school year with Seward Park High School (Lower East Side), Uptown Dance Academy (East Harlem), Once Upon A Time dance school (Richmond Hills, Queens) and Grand Street Settlement/Marta Valle High School (Lower East Side), to bring a program called "Cuatro Esquinas" to youth having no access to Spanish dance classes. Now Flamenco Latino is able to offer after-school classes at it's home-based studio.

These classes provide training in both flamenco and salsa/mambo styles, and explore the historical relationship between the flamenco art form and influences from Latino cultures known as la ida y vuelta ("round trip") forms. Participants will have access to flamenco shoes and costumes, and will be encouraged to take part in Flamenco Latino recitals and performances. The most talented students will have an opportunity, as they mature, to become junior members in the dance company.

One "Cuatro Esquinas" student, Tatiana Green, studied throughout her youth at at Uptown Dance Academy and participated in "Cuatro Esquinas" for 5 years. Now a freshman at Adelphi University, she also performs with Flamenco Latino and takes all the adult flamenco classes as a scholarship student.

This program will be funded, in part, by NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, corporate and foundation sources. The prices offered are subsidized and very affordable. Enroll now!

Individual classes, $12/each.

Packages:

4 classes, $35 (savings of approximately $3 per class)

12 classes, $85 (savings of approximately $5 per class)

Mandatory attendance for all discount packages, no credit for missed classes.
